The Signal Method

Every claim cited. Every assumption challenged.

The Signal Method is the workflow behind every project. Each product then uses the analytical framework that fits the decision, and every output goes through adversarial review and consultant sign-off before the client sees it.

The workflow

From the board question to the decision record.

Each step has a defined job. That keeps research effort attached to the decision rather than expanding into an attractive but unusable report.

Scope

Set the decision, criteria, evidence boundary, timetable and commercial terms.

Investigate

Gather and triangulate authoritative secondary evidence. Record sources and gaps as the work develops.

Gauge

Apply the analytical framework that matches the question: ranking, evidence-backed choice or sequencing.

Narrow

Discard weak options and concentrate deeper work where it can change the result.

Assess

Run a separate adversarial review to challenge the reasoning, assumptions and omissions.

Land

Deliver the conclusion, model, evidence trail, limitations and next decision with human sign-off.

The analytical engines

Recognised models, matched to the decision.

01 / Readiness

CORE and Uppsala

Cavusgil's CORE framework and the Uppsala internationalisation model are widely used in export-readiness and international-business research. At Torsik, they sit behind the Frontier Index, turning a five-minute diagnostic into a structured view of export foundations.

02 / Threat posture

ISO, COSO and OODA

ISO 31000, COSO ERM, ISO 22301 and the OODA decision cycle are recognised across risk, continuity, governance and military decision-making. At Torsik, they inform the Shield Index and help show whether an organisation can detect, assess and respond to a foreign-market threat.

03 / Evidence structure

PESTEL+

PESTEL is a standard strategy and market-analysis tool used to organise political, economic, social, technological, environmental and legal evidence. At Torsik, a tighter PESTEL+ evidence set powers single-market briefs, exposure briefs and the dossiers used in comparison work.

04 / Ranking options

AHP and TOPSIS

Analytic Hierarchy Process and TOPSIS are established multi-criteria decision methods used in operations research, procurement and policy analysis. At Torsik, they power market comparison and exposure ranking. For Shield, interpretation and tracing identify the exposure units before those units are ordered against agreed criteria.

05 / Testing uncertainty

PERT and Monte Carlo

PERT and Monte Carlo are standard ways to turn uncertain inputs into ranges. They are widely used in finance, engineering and complex investment decisions. At Torsik, we use them where the cited evidence supports credible ranges. Some response decisions remain categorical or evidence-gated instead of being forced into a simulation.

06 / Building the plan

CPM and strategy sequencing

Critical Path Method, Strategic Choice Cascade and Beachhead/Bowling Alley/Mass Adoption sequencing are recognised execution and strategy tools. At Torsik, they turn an approved direction into dependencies, gates, owners and timing. Shield response plans also map remediation dependencies, maintenance ownership and future review triggers.

Quality controls

Before delivery, the answer is tested.

  • Citations checked against the claims they support.
  • Facts, assumptions and estimates kept separate.
  • Models checked for arithmetic, logic and sensitivity.
  • A separate adversarial review challenges the conclusion before consultant sign-off.
AI-assisted, human-governed
A faster way to build a decision you can check.

We use AI to speed up research, structure evidence and test options at scale. We use human review to decide what matters, challenge the reasoning and make sure the answer is ready for a board-level decision. Every material claim is cited to a public source, so the work can be checked rather than simply trusted.

What you keep

The logic stays with you.

The deliverable is not just a recommendation. You keep the decision record, cited evidence trail, assumptions log and, where the product includes one, the Excel model used to produce the answer.

  • See which sources support the main claims.
  • Check what was treated as fact, estimate or assumption.
  • Re-run the model if prices, priorities, risk appetite or market facts change.
  • Use the same logic later without starting again.
